01 / OUR PRODUCT

Soft, surprising
and made to play.

Marshmallow Clapsticks turn a familiar rhythm activity into a playful food experience. Tap the sticks, share the moment, then enjoy the marshmallow.

02 / HOW IT WORKS

One pair.
Two different sounds.

The pink stick is compressed more tightly. The blue stick keeps more air inside. Different densities create different sounds.

STICK A · HIGH DENSITY

Firm & brighter

╱╲╱╲╱╲
Less air • tighter compression • clearer, higher sound

STICK B · MEDIUM DENSITY

Soft & deeper

∿ ∿ ∿
More air • medium compression • softer, lower sound

Handmade in four simple steps

01

Make

Prepare the soft marshmallow texture.

02

Layer & roll

Build even layers and roll a long cylinder.

03

Compress

Use different pressure for different densities.

04

Shape & test

Smooth, tap and compare the sound.

03 / OUR STORY

Music, food and one curious idea.

Our idea began with a simple question: what if an instrument could also be shared and eaten?

We were inspired by the simple interaction of Australian clapsticks. We explored a very different material—marshmallows—to connect rhythm, creativity and food.

This is a student product concept. It is inspired by clapsticks, not a replacement for their cultural meaning.

04 / EMOTION & EXPERIENCE

We want people
to feel…

The experience starts with a surprise, grows through play and ends with a sweet shared moment.

?

Curiosity

“Can marshmallows really make a sound?”

Fun

Tap, test and make a simple rhythm together.

Enjoyment

Share the experience—and the marshmallows.

05 / OUR MOTIVATION

What moved us
from idea to action?

Motivation is the force that starts, guides and keeps our behaviour going. Our project is shaped by both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

FROM WITHIN

Intrinsic motivation

We wanted to create something fun, creative and different. Combining music, food and cultural inspiration let us explore a new idea and enjoy making something by hand.

  • Curiosity and creativity
  • Enjoyment of making
  • Learning through experiments

FROM AROUND US

Extrinsic motivation

We wanted a product that could attract schools, cultural organisations and community events. We hoped it would stand out and have practical value.

  • A clear assessment goal
  • Positive audience response
  • Useful market potential
OUR TEAM NARRATIVE →

Some of us were excited by the playful idea, some wanted to solve the design problem, and others focused on making it clear and useful. Together, we turned curiosity into a product story we could share.
